Breakup

In through the ear, Like Hamlet’s old man, Words sink through the shattered silence Stones in a pool of frosty glass. You’ve asked If there’s anything on my mind ‘No…’ Nothings on my mind except A ten tonne weight, Bought from ACME Corp. ‘Fuck’ (unsaid) As I realise that Its not what’s on the mind But in it that’s what counts. The abacuses rattle From side to side As I try to hide The lifeless albatross That’s growing from my mind, Showing from behind my back. Occasionally things just crack And break apart. They shake apart. Just break apart. ‘Step forward sir and make your mark’ We’ll tie ourselves onto the mast And mask our sea of troubles. But one step back, And off the plank. From the beach observe the ship that sank And the headlines that will soon read NO SURVIVORS. Leave your shoes here by the shore And your towel, bucket and spade. And paddle with me three miles out, Until our breaths are underneath the waves.
Notes:
Umm, first go at uploading something... Its really about a calm sensation derived from an amicable breakup. The Hamlet references were really all about inaction, knowing somethings wrong but being unable to do anything. Theres plenty more in there (I hope) but I\'ll leave that to you. Enjoy (I hope)
