The Affair

It was a short affair-
to say the least.
Not even sure whether this
Venture would benefit
The Company.

But,
You seemed good humoured at the time.
Nice, crisp in your suit of decency.
Good records, (or none of the opposite form).
And, since many others were,
Shall we say; investing there shares in,
Similar prospects.
Why not?
After all, what is the harm?

How was I to know you were a con?
Sold out, to another company,
You’re loyalty elsewhere.
Off course;
One should have read the signs,
But, inexperienced as I am,
Business man, (of the heart and not the head,)
I took a chance.

It looks like I have made myself a fool;
Very nearly lost my shares.
(Thank goodness you stumbled,
Fell short, before the full transaction)

Now,
They think I was willing all along.
The wonder of it is;

I wasn’t even sure.
